In-House Training

In our studio, we work with clients on a wide range of products and designs, which allows us to constantly enhance the skills of our team, who have all previously completed one of our past training programmes mentioned below.

We provide in-house training on our industrial sewing machines, teach pattern-making techniques and methodologies, and make on-the-job learning an essential part of our daily routine in the studio.

This completes our social business ecosytem, where women who have taken part in fully sponsored training, then become interns and potentially full time staff with Colours of a Kind, earning a salary from the work created at the CMT studio or elsewhere in the industry.

Past Programmes

Accelerator

We ran the Colours of a Kind Accelerator Programme in 2022 and 2023, in collaboration with our training partner the Fashion Institute of Garment Technology by the Cape Town College of Fashion Design (CTCFD). We are proud that 26 women took the SETA accredited, full time course “One Year General Education & Training Certificate in Clothing Manufacturing Process” fully supported by Colours of a Kind. Moreover, five graduates were fully sponsored by us to continue their studies and complete the second year as well.

Indibano

Indibano, meaning “gathering” in isiXhosa, was created as both a platform for continuing education and a network for past and present programme participants. Our Indibano programme focussed on regular events in collaboration with various facilitators, where a new skill was learnt as well as an opportunity to get together in a social setting and reconnect.

Learn Make Sew

From 2019 to 2021, we ran our Learn Make Sew programme five times, training almost 100 women. Facilitated by ONEOFEACH, the programme covered basic sewing skills as well as personal development, aiming to equip women from underprivileged backgrounds around Cape Town with the skills they need to enter the workforce.
